You may want to see a dermatologist and have them look at your skin. There are different types of "dry skin" and they can best determine the condition of your skin as well as what will help you best. Sometimes they'll have a dry skin care product in their office for you to sample. Other times, they can give you a prescription or recommend a good dry skin care product you can get at your grocery store. Many times, you may find that trial and error is the best way to find the best dry skin care product for your skin. You try one and if it doesn’t work, you can switch to another. Make sure you give it enough time to work before you give up, however. Unless you were born with it, dry skin didn't happen overnight. You can't expect the cure to happen overnight either.
One thing to remember is to read the label on the dry skin care product you want to purchase. If you don't understand what an ingredient is, ask someone that can help you. You may have certain allergies that will coincide with the ingredients in the dry skin care product you are considering buying. Contrary to what many believe, the FDA does not regulate the sale of skin care products before they are sold to the public, which is why they also recommend reading the label.
Some ingredients have been used for many years alone or with skin care products. These may include safflower oil, shea butter, jojoba, chamomile, rose hip seed oil, witch hazel and aloe vera.
